The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is a tandem rotor helicopter developed by American rotorcraft company Vertol and manufactured by Boeing Vertol. The Chinook is a heavy-lift helicopter that is among the heaviest lifting Western helicopters.
The CH-47F features a digital automatic flight control system, a common avionics architecture system, and advanced cargo handling to meet the Army’s modernization needs for increased operational capacity while ensuring interoperability with allied nations.
The CH-47F Chinook is the Army’s only heavy-lift cargo helicopter supporting combat and other critical operations.
The CH-47F has a suite of improved features such as an upgraded digital cockpit featuring the Common Avionics Architecture System, a new monolithic airframe with vibration reduction, and the Digital Automatic Flight Control System, which provides coupled controllability for operations in adverse environments.
The CH-47F can fly at speeds of over 175 mph (282 km/h) with a payload of more than 21,000 lb (9,500 kg).
